GP MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLAN
A Mental Health Care Plan to see a psychologist or clinical social worker usually allows for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
After the initial 6 sessions the GP will review the plan which will generate a further 4 sessions, at the GP’s discretion. Once you have completed the original 10 sessions you can see your GP for an Enhanced Primary Care Plan.
ENHANCED PRIMARY CARE
If you have used your 10 MHCP sessions in the calendar year, you may be eligible to apply for Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) through your GP. If eligible you will then be entitled to a $52.95 Medicare rebate (up to $174.80 if safety net is reached).
PRIVATE ANCILLARY HEALTH REBATES
Rebates are available for most private health funds and vary from $44 – $130 approximately.
Please enquire about the level of cover with your individual health fund.
* Unfortunately rebates cannot be claimed from Medicare AND Private Ancillary Health Cover at the same time as this is regarded as “double dipping”.
