Frequently Asked Questions
No — you’re welcome to book an appointment with us directly. However, if you’d like to claim a Medicare rebate, you’ll need a referral and a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
It’s a referral your GP prepares that makes you eligible for a Medicare rebate on psychology sessions. Book a longer appointment with your GP to discuss your Mental Health Care Plan before your first session with us, if you’d like to claim the rebate.
This varies from person to person. A Mental Health Care Plan initially covers up to 10 sessions per calendar year — 6 sessions, followed by a GP review for a further 4 if needed. Many clients continue beyond this depending on their goals.
Your first session is mostly about your psychologist getting to know you — your background, what’s brought you in, and what you’re hoping to work on. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out; it’s a conversation, not a test.
Sessions typically run 50–60 minutes. Fees vary depending on which practitioner you see — see our Fees & Rebates page for full details.

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations or non-attendance with less notice may incur a fee up to the full cost of the consultation.
Yes — we support NDIS participants, current and former Defence Force members (through Open Arms and DVA), and St John Ambulance employees, volunteers, and their families, generally at no out-of-pocket cost. See our Fees & Rebates page for details on each pathway.
